Nation Anthem of the Roman Empire: Τῇ ὑπερμάχω στρατηγῷ τὰ νικητήρια

Tribute to our Roman ancestors. Hail to the Roman Empire-Ζήτω η Ρωμανία-Grando Imperium Romanum

The Byzantines called themselves Romans (Romaioi). The term Byzantine was made up by German historians to steal our history and show that the Holy Roman Empire was the heir of the Roman Empire. At the begining of the 11th century the Franks and the Normans conquered Italy thus ending Roman rule at the peninsula, they killed the Orthodox pope and replaced him with a Frank. That way they made a schism between the two Roman patriarchates and splitted the eastern Romans from the western ones. That split has yet to be fixed, the citizens of the empire of Rome and New Rome think that they are just Italians in the west and in the east since they have lost the city of New Rome the Romans consider themselves just the heirs of the ancient hellenic city states, additionally the whole world uses the term "Greek" to describe the eastern Romans, a term that was first used for the eastern Romans in the 9th century by the Franks.
