First tadpoles of the spring and a swimming turtle

May 17, 2014. it rained pretty hard overnight, refilling the drainage swale. I have been checking every day and today I saw tadpoles. The Fowlers toads started mating about 1 week ago, so the tadpoles are right on time. I have never seen such small ones before, I expect that their numbers will swell as the toads keep mating for the next few weeks whenever the weather is warm enough at night.

I then walked over to the larger pond, and found about 6 turtles on the log. I got some video of that to be used another day, but got some of my better shots of a turtle swimming, so I have include it here to round out the video.
