President and COO of ViaSat, Inc. Rick Baldridge discusses his philosophies on becoming a leader for your own career and the importance of measuring your influence while speaking at "In the Executive's Chair" -- an open course at CSUSM that invites the community and business students to hear valuable advice from business leaders.

Baldridge joined ViaSat (a provider of communication equipment for government and commercial customers) in April 1999 as vice president and chief financial officer and added the positions of executive vice president and COO in July 2000, before being named President in 2003. Prior to joining the company he served in senior financial and general management roles within Raytheon Corporation, Hughes Electronics Corp. and General Dynamics Corporation. Baldridge has been instrumental in expanding and developing ViaSat's senior executive team, and organizing the company and its business unit leadership to promote profitable growth.
