Professor Takayoshi Kusago invited Dr. Fetterman to speak about empowerment evaluation at Osaka University. Support for the presentation and workshop training was provided in part by Professor Junji Koizumi, former Trustee and Vice President (also a fellow student at Stanford with Dr. Fetterman). Special thanks are also extended to Manabu Miyamoto from the Education Center of the Osaka Medical College. This presentation highlighted the three-step approach to empowerment evaluation: 1) mission; 2) taking stock; and 3) planning for the future. In addition the role of prioritization and dialogue were discussed. The process translated across cultures - literally and figuratively. Technological tools used to faciliate empowerment evaluations were also briefly noted. See Wikipedia for more information about empowerment evaluation.
