Built in 1560 by King Setthathirath Wat Xieng Thong is the "must see" Buddhist temple in Luang Prabang. The Sim has a low sweeping double-tiered roof, fine exterior decoration including the "Tree of Life" mosaic. The interior is rich with numerous images of the Buddha and fine stencil work on the columns. The various chapels & other buildings including the beautiful Red Chapel & Standing Buddha Cgapel make this an architectural gem and the most magnificent of all lao Temples.
