Why do we need to record our experiences? When we meditate we experience many things. It is necessary to express these inspirations and experiences, in a personal journal.The very act of writing down, what and how we felt during meditation, makes us develop closer attention towards what we experienced. It also enhances our ability to express our deeper feelings, in a creative manner. The variety of our experience, may help us to develop an added interest in our daily practice. When climbing up a mountain, we hardly notice the path taken, because the twists and turns that the road takes keeps our focus on the immediate progress of our journey. However, when we reach a sufficient height, we can look back and see the winding road on which we have come up so far. We gain perspective, understanding and knowledge, when we re-read our own records on the heartfulness practice. It gives us the much needed confidence to trust what we experience as being useful. Very often, change occurs gradually, and it is rather difficult to observe this on-going change. Due to our practice of meditation, we develop various inner skills that we are not quite aware of. When we re-read what we have recorded, we feel gratitude and awe, for our progress over time.
