On behalf of North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue, North Carolina Deputy Secretary of Commerce Dale Carroll opened the High Point Furniture Market by announcing Ashley Furniture's commitment to open the Ashley Furniture Mid-Atlantic Manufacturing and Distribution Facility on 640 acres in Advance, North Carolina. Site plans unveiled at the announcement projected building a total of 3.22 million square feet of manufacturing and distribution facilities.

After a brief introduction by Terry Bralley, President of the Davie County Economic Development Commission, Dale Carroll officially announced the project and presented a state flag of North Carolina to Ashley Furniture Chairman, Ron Wanek and Ashley Furniture President, Todd Wanek, welcoming them both, and welcoming Ashley Furniture officially to the great state of North Carolina.
