Athens showed its friendly and welcoming face on Friday, March 16, to 150 students from 50 countries who visited Athens to attend the AIESEC International Congress EuroXpro 2012 which took place in Athens from the 16th to the 23rd March.
More than 100 volunteers from the city's greeters programme THIS IS MY ATHENS responded to the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency initiative and took on the opportunity to become ambassadors of Athens, for a couple of hours, and to showcase the positive side of the city, , their "own" Athens, to the visiting students.
At the end of the two hour walk the EuroXpro students and the Athens locals gathered at Monastiraki square to form a human chain reading THIS IS MY ATHENS waving neon lights and filling the square with lights, thus, sending out to the world spectacular images of the glowing Square with the sacred rock of Acropolis at the background.
