Alissa FIRSOVA: Op. 22 CHATEAU DE CANISY, March 2010 Dedicated to: Denis de Kergolay, Peter Wolrich, Erika Colon & Les amis de canisy. Performed by Erika Colon & Alissa Firsova
Here!!!, in Canisy, time is Bergsonian - not Newtonian, so art has its way. While you are here, as in Cythera, beauty leaves ticking time somewhere else, and watches swarm and reform like Dali's. Not deconstruction here but reconstruction. Music does not keep but transcends profane time as intense playing, forgetting dusk and dawn, illuminates the salon de musique. Succulent wines and cuisine sublime give nourishment to other senses in spaces redolent of another time, here where time becomes a space. Friendships grow and conversations glow during walks in a new Arcadia and as you raise your eyes to infinite skies you know that - finally- All is in place. But can it last? Will not the Bergsonian idyll soon be pierced by the beat of Newtonian clocks? Yet, even so, could it not be the sound of something eternal, the touch of the shared idea of Paradise? And perhaps such ideas may have their own way of somehow reconstructing somewhere else the content of inexorable time itself: There!!!
