The Saginaw Spirit wrapped up the month of December with their 24th win of the season Wednesday night at The Dow Event Center, following a 4-2 victory over the Erie Otters. The Spirit lead the OHL Western Conference with 52 points and a record of 24-7-3-1. Captain Jordan Szwarz earned the game's first star honors with a goal, an assist and a plus-2 rating, while Anthony Camara posted two assists and a plus-2 for the second star honors and John McFarland netted a goal and an assist for the third star honors.

Spirit defenseman Ryan O'Connor opened scoring with his second goal of the season at 14:01 in the first period. The goal was assisted by center John McFarland and winger Brandon Saad. Shalla quickly followed with a goal at the 15:18 mark to make it 2-0 Saginaw, with his thirtieth of the season assisted by wingers Jordan Szwarz and Anthony Camara.

The Otters would storm back in the second period with two consecutive goals to tie up the game. Defenseman Brady Austin scored at 4:01 from winger Matthew Paton and center Jeremy Gottzmann and then seconds later at the 4:09 mark Paton tallied a goal from winger Brett Appio to make it 2-2. The Spirit responded later in the frame, with Szwarz scoring the eventual game winning goal at the 10:20 mark from defenseman Ben Chiarot and Camara.

Saginaw's McFarland rounded out the scoring and secured the Spirit win with a goal at 5:16 in the third period, assisted by center Vincent Trocheck and goalie Mavric Parks.

Spirit goalie Mavric Parks tallied 41 saves on 43 shots while Otters netminder Ramis Sadikov notched 28 saves on 32 shots.
