The session presents key findings of a new IBM-Saïd Business School report on corporate adoption of Big Data. Dean Peter Tufano, Professor Dolores Romero Morales and Dr Janet Smart are co-authors of this report, which is based on a survey of senior executives at over 1,000 firms. What is "Big Data?" How broadly has it been adopted? By whom? To do what? What's holding firms back from greater use of Big Data?
Commenting more generally on the hope, hype and perils of this phenomenon are David Kay, VP Sales IBM; Anand Rajaraman, former SVP Global eCommerce, Walmart; Stephen Shelton, Head of Data Services, BAE Systems Detica; and Major General Jonathan Shaw, former Head of Cyber Security, MOD.
The 24 October 2012 Saïd Business School Symposium, "Resetting the Business Agenda", was an afternoon of insightful debate, discussions and deliberations with critical thinkers and internationally renowned experts and speakers from Oxford and beyond.
