Here's how Ultratron 3.0 is looking so far. As you can see it's quite different in looks and the gameplay is fairly radically different beyond the controls being the same. There's a shop in between levels, right-mouse-button smartbombs, fruit to collect for crazy points, and dots to munch to earn money for the shop.
Powerup cycling is gone, and all powerups are now dropped by the spidroids, and they time out after a short while and vanish. We also have nerfroids (not shown) that appear when you don't get a spidroid in time... don't shoot the nerfroids! They drop nerfs instead of powerups, which don't time out.
I'm about to start implementing "pets" properly tomorrow. These are little drones that follow behind you, guarding your rear, whilst also shooting various weapons into the fray as you move.
