In this lesson we'll examine the inductor release process. We'll learn an inductor experiencing a collapsing magnetic field generates a voltage surge that will momentarily force current through a system in the same direction where the duration and intensity of this voltage surge is dependent upon the electrical characteristics of the release path. We'll examine complete and partial releases and releases with and without initial conditions, releases which result in a transition from one steady state condition to another steady state condition, and release events that seamlessly transition to a storage event. Finally, we'll learn to solve for instantaneous values at specific times and solve for times that satisfied specific conditions. (Part 2 of 2)
