The Power Plate Incredible Race 2011
On the 28th of November , 12 well-known South African celebrities will complete some gruelling physical and mental tasks as they battle it out in an 'Amazing Race' styled race across the Eastern Cape over three jam-packed days.
The goal: win the R100 000 prize money to donate to an Eastern Cape-based charity of their choice.

you to the inaugural Power Plate Incredible Race - Eastern Cape 2011.

Charity Sharmain is racing for: Commissioned to Go Ministries
Contestants will be paired up and will have to complete all tasks and challenges as a team. The winning
team will divide the R100 000 prize money to their chosen charities.
The teams will be travelling a route of approximately 700kms and will be doing so in style in vehicles,
sponsored by Eastern Cape Motors including the beautiful new Nissan Juke and Range Rover
The teams will carry Go-pro hand-held video cameras with them at all times, which will capture all the up
to the minute action, challenges and dramas as they make their way towards the prize money. With lots
of twists and turns and many surprises along the way- the contestants will have to stay focussed and
work as team at all times. All of this footage will available on the Facebook group page namely: The
Incredible Race Eastern Cape as this will be used as the hub for up to the minute media information.
Contestants will also be using various platforms of social media as they go along and fans are encouraged
to follow their progress.
The route will start in NMB then to the Karoo, Port Alfred, Bathurst, Grahamstown and back to NMB
for the final challenge and cheque hand over, with a song which will be written and performed by
renowned local artist 'Ciza the Journalist' and Eloise Potgieter, written especially for the Power Plate
Incredible Race. The race will end at Space Gym in Ring Road Greenacres where all teams will come in for
their final challenge on Wednesday 30 November 2011. All tasks and challenges will be scored on a point
system and the points will be tallied and the winning team announced at a Grand Finale event taking
place at Space. Members of the public are invited to attend the Grand Finale where they can meet the
celebs, hear the announcement of the winning team, see the cheques being handed over to the chosen
charities and enjoy the song written and composed especially for the race. Tickets will be on sale at all
participating sponsors at R200 per person.
Challenges for the contestants will include tasks such as a charity trolley dash, rhino walking, sky-diving,
poetry writing, archery, a race along route 67, a township and Red Location museum challenge and
many, many more.

The organisers of the event namely Lynn Erasmus and Michelle Campbell would like to grow the event
year on year and would like to include more of the Eastern Cape next year and possibly grow the event
into the rest of South Africa, as well as attract international celebrities to take part.
The goal is to showcase the Eastern Cape and all it has to offer and to make sure that at least two Eastern
Cape-based charities have a good Christmas this year!
