This video provides a brief explanation of how to setup and use IBM's openlaszlo RIA environment to create a simple web application. In this instance, a BMI calculator.

Examples of other RIA frameworks include Ajax, Adobe Flash/Adobe Flex/AIR, Java/JavaFX,[2] Mozilla's XUL and Microsoft Silverlight, and mono's Moonlight.

Openlaszlo is free and powerful. You can download it at http://www.openlaszlo.org/

You do need to have a recent Java installed (Including the SDK)
