George W. Dowdall is Professor of Sociology at Saint Joseph's University. His latest book is College Drinking: Reframing a Social Problem (Westport, CT: Praeger, 2009). His publications include The Eclipse of the State Mental Hospital (1996); Finding Out What Works and Why: A Guide to Evaluating College Prevention Programs and Policies (with William DeJong, 2002); and Adventures in Criminal Justice Research (with Kim Logio, 2008). As the American Sociological Association's Congressional Fellow in the office of Senator Joseph Biden, Dowdall helped to prepare the Senator's report, Excessive Drinking on College Campuses. He serves on the Pennsylvania Advisory Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse and on the Board of Directors of Security on Campus, Inc
