For the second time in program history, Trinity won the 2010 Republic Bank/Coca-Cola Louisville Invitational Tournament with a 50-45 win over Eastern on Jan. 16, 2010 at Bellarmines Knights Hall. In winning the event, Trinity defeated Ballard, Eastern and Jeffersontown in a 29-hour period. The trio of teams, along with the Shamrocks, are generally considered the top four teams in the Seventh Region in the state of Kentucky, one of the toughest leagues or region in the nation this season. The Shamrocks won their first Louisville Invitational Tournament title in 2005 when top-seeded Trinity defeated Jeffersontown 56-46 in the Louisville Gardens on Jan. 15, 2005. Senior guard Kyle Saxton had 22 points and five rebounds while senior guard Bret Saxton had 15 points and five rebounds. The senior duo was named the tournaments most valuable players following the event.
