Canadian racer Nick Zoricic, 29, died following a crash at the ski-cross World Cup at Grindelwald, Switzerland. Zoricic went wide on the final jump and crashed into the safety net adjacent to the inflated finishing gate. He "fell heavily just before the finish in the round of eight, crashing directly into the safety netting and thereafter lying motionless," according to a International Ski Federation statement. Zoricic suffered severe head trauma and did not survive. Sources: USA Today, The Guardian
