Fr. John Blewett, ordained Priest on Friday July 31st, 2009, celebrates his first public Mass (a Missa Solemnis) at St. Norbert's in Roxbury, WI on August 2nd, 2009. The Mass was the ninth Sunday after Pentecost. Following Mass Father Blewett gave the traditional first blessing of a newly ordained priest.

It is traditional for the laity to kiss the hands of a newly-ordained priest after his inaugural mass, in veneration of the Body of Christ, which is held in the priest's hands during the Holy Eucharist.
