Today on The Laura Ingraham Show, former Godfather's Pizza CEO Herman Cain went even further than he's previous comments regarding Muslims. He also painted Michelle Obama's garden as a ploy used by the administration to distract people from its failed policies.
@1:21 - "I want people in my administration that are committed to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. I don't want any inkling of anybody in my administration who would put Sharia law over American law."
@2:10 - "I have not found a Muslim that has said that they will denounce Sharia law, you know, in order to support the Constitution of the United States."
@2:43 - "If you take an oath [of office] on the Qur'an [as Representative Keith Ellison of MN did], that means you support Sharia law. I support American law. Our laws were derived from principles that are biblically based. Maybe not said in the same words that are in the Bible, but our laws are derived from principles based upon the Bible. This is why I'm not going to back down or pander to anyone who wants to call me xenophobic or a bigot simply because I said no. I don't want anybody in my administration that I'm going to have to be looking over my shoulder to figure out if they are going to try to do something against the principles that I believe in which are also the principles that the majority, the overwhelming majority of the American people believe."
@3:26 - Laura: "What about all the Muslims, and I've had a number of them on my program over the past several years, who supported President Bush? They were a big turnout for George Bush in the year 2000. Big, big voting bloc in Michigan and across the country, people who are social conservatives, economic conservatives--are you throwing all those people by the wayside? Those can't be patriotic, good Americans?"
@3:52 - "No, no I am not Laura. As you know, too often overgeneralizations are made. I am not making an overgeneralization that there are not some Muslims who respect this country and its laws. If your religion happens to be Muslim and you respect the laws of this country, by way of the Constitution and all of the laws following that, I have absolutely no problem with people like that."
On Michelle Obama's garden and healthy eating outreach:
@5:38 - "The fact that she's doing this is to distract from the lack of effectiveness of the policies of this administration, so I really don't get all excited about her out here on this promotional tour for those ancillary ideas because that's just another way that, quite frankly, this administration uses in order to be able to distract from the fact that the policies, the serious stuff, have been totally ineffective."
