The injustice in New Jersey didn’t end at Shaneen Allen. Next up was 72-year-old retired schoolteacher and historical memorabilia collector Gordon VanGilder. He fell prey to the Garden State's gun laws when he was arrested for possessing an antique gun in his car. His by-the-book felony charge netted him the same result for his unloaded 1700s flintlock as he would have received for a loaded .44 Magnum.

A couple of weeks after this report aired, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office announced it would exercise "prosecutorial discretion" and dismiss the gun charge. They may have dropped the charge, but they held their ground, reminding residents to be mindful of the current laws that do not exempt antique handguns.
