We all love wood. Its wondrous diversity of colors, patterns, scents and textures captures our senses. When a new piece of wood comes into the workshop we are like little kids on Christmas morning, unable to wait to play with, work, shape and finish it into a beautiful piece of art.

Because of its intricate grain patterns and lovely colors, Madrone Burl is a wood that particularly excites our passion for wood. Every flute we create with it has a unique and special character. We especially love combining it with Black Walnut. Together these two species highlight each other's individual beauty.

In this Madrone Burl/Black Walnut Signature Series flute we purposely kept the design elements to a minimum so that nature's creative artistry can be featured.
This flute is a functional art piece. We highly recommend displaying it on a flute stand. Not only will this show it off in your home, office, or wherever you play, it will inspire you to play more often.

Being a Signature Series flute, this flute has wonderfully clear high notes and warm full low notes. Very little breath pressure is needed to play it. This feature allows easy control over the notes and playing techniques. It has strong amplitude (volume) and is extremely responsive, giving the player an intimate connection with each note.

We continually strive to improve our flute designs and to craft instruments that are responsive, have superior tonal quality and exceptional amplitude. In this ongoing quest we developed a new airflow combination that minimizes the amount of turbulence going through the flute. Utilizing this new airflow design we created the High Spirits Signature Series. Signature Series flutes have a broad, balanced voice that expresses warm, low notes and clean, clear high notes. These flutes require very little breath pressure, allowing for better control over the notes and a wider range of playing styles.
