This video explains the basics of circuit breakers and how they are used to protect your home's electrical wires and your family's safety. You should call an electrician if you need to install a circuit breaker or have a short circuit in your home.
There are many circuit breaker types. Circuit breakers are rated for the amount of current they will allow to pass through them without tripping. If you have a tripping circuit breaker you have a short circuit somewhere in the electrical wiring of that particular circuit the circuit breaker is associated with.
There are also GFCI circuit breakers (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) used for sensing very small levels of current increases. GFCI breakers are used in wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and basements. There are also arc fault circuit breakers that are required in bedrooms.
