This video is about 3 years old and has 3-4 copies on YouTube, but so far no subtitles, even though this clip is, possibly, more interesting to foreigners than to Russians.
Why Putins dictatorial policies gained such support in Russia? After the Super laissez faire of the 90's, people felt that a single "just" force was needed to bring order (see "Leviathan Politics" or "Attack of Clones", whichever is closer to you). These videos demonstrate just that - giving up some elements of democracy to better them selves and strengthen the country.
Two things Russians, unfortunately, love to do: blame and follow. Blame the opposition, blame oligarchs (often deservingly so), blame foreigners (if you hear anything Russians are saying about westerns now, please ignore. We are currently falling into a horrible recession). Now, about follow did you see the bird at the end a two-headed eagle of the Russian Empire with a Soviet star on the back? These are to nearly opposite symbols, but both symbolize power. Before the current depression started, Putin had power to crown himself King, Pope, Fuhrer, anyone he wanted; and the people would have gone ecstatic.
I just hope that the latest events will shake peoples beliefs in the system a bit. The certainly shook mine. To have all the Oil money in the world and not save a penny!
Anyways, enjoy the clip. If nothing else, its funny and pretty accurately reflects the current situation in Russia.
Extra credit for figuring out the plane reference in the end
