"Bulgaria needs an active and modern president. Don't allow this institution to be diminished..."

That's what outgoing socialist President Georgi Parvanov told his successor - rightist Rosen Plevneliev - after 10 years in office. During that period Bulgaria saw some major transformations to democracy and market economy, becoming also a member of NATO and EU.
