For over 15 years, the Community Outreach Program of Holy Cross Hospital has been providing health education and services to those who are poor in South Florida. Community Outreach identified a need to cultivate a childhood obesity prevention program called Growing Healthy Kids (GHK) to educate South Florida's children about nutrition, healthy living and the importance of exercise. Parents, teachers and staff are also educated on how to implement a nutrition lesson at home. GHK also created an after school Pilates for Girls program that has seen measurable results and an increase in nutrition knowledge among the children.
