The old window of the Warrumbungle house (built by hand in 1975) was weathering badly and showing signs of dry rot. This video by Simon Pockley shows the steps in constructing a new casement window that was made in Melbourne (Australia) on the 18th March 2012. Then, the video shows how it was installed over Easter in April 2012. In the interests of brevity, the video is fairly concise. But I'm always happy to answer any questions [simonpockley@gmail.com].

Post script: In January 2013 the house in which the window was replaced burnt to the ground in a large bush fire. You can see a before the fire video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_D586... shot at dawn in November 2012 (before the fire) and then another a few days after the fire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3L8zX....

Nothing is permanent. Massive fires are to be expected when you you live in a fire ecology. As I rebuild, I'll now need to make more windows and doors etc...

If you are interested in the rebuild, there is a blog of posts and videos at: http://duckdigital.net/Wheoh/

Don't forget that I'm not some anonymous corporate entity. I'm happy to help if you have any questions. But where I live there is no mobile or internet coverage. I usually go to town once a week (on Fridays) so my replies may not be immediate.
