The webinar presents data and information contained in REL Central’s April 2016 report How Do School Districts Mentor New Teachers? The presentation begins with an introduction by Dale DeCesare, the principal investigator for this work. He explains the need for a survey that gathers information from districts regarding their mentoring policies for new teachers. DeCesare then describes the process REL Central used to create such a survey and reviews the findings as contained in the final report. Next DeCesare facilitates a discussion between leaders from three of the states that released the survey to their school districts. Linda Dooling, Sharon Katt, and Laurie Stenehjem discussed the findings of the report within the larger context of teacher recruitment and retention and educator workforce quality in each of their states.
