Cloud computing has moved beyond the early adoption phase, as enterprises are now using - or plan to use - cloud for their production environments. Enterprise adoption, however, brings a stricter set of requirements and expectations. Though enterprise customers see the clear business benefits of cloud - lower costs and increased business agility - they are wary of cloud services that don't adequately address their requirements. In his general session at Cloud Expo Silicon Valley, NaviSite's EVP & CTO Denis Martin shared the experiences of NaviSite as an enterprise-class cloud provider, and discussed the feature sets and requirements of a production-ready cloud, including role-based access; memory management; disaster recovery and business continuity; security; and support for hybrid clouds.
