Congolese hip-hop artist Didjak Munya has been working with War Child to help engage young people and take our message to a wider audience.
This is a track he wrote with some of the children we work with - it's about the need for the new child protection laws in Congo.
Lyrics: TITLE: CODE OF LAW
Rap: For all the Children of Congo For all the Children of Africa For all Children of the World To the right of the Child Policy makers and parents
Verse 1: I'm tired of being flogged every day I'm tired of being called every day "witch" I am tired of going to sleep hungry every day I'm tired of being called "child without hope" I'm tired of sleeping outside in the cold I'm tired of doing work that is not my age I'm tired, I'm tired, I'm tired, I'm tired
Verse 2: We are tired of living in pain and difficulties We too are children like any other We also want to live like other Why does Africa lack the means? Night and day, always suffering and difficulties Children They are beginning to treat us as objects without value
Rap: There's enough of all these atrocities
Chorus: The new code of law for our rights, protection and child development
Verse 3: The new code for our rights, protection of the Child Development we really want I'm tired of living with the suffering and pain I'm tired of being whipped like a dog I'm tired of having tears in every eye I'm tired of being thrown in the street every time I'm tired of being an instrument for sex I'm tired of being treated all the time like a witch I'm tired of being pushed all the time begging I'm tired of living nightmares that are not my age I'm tired, pissed off, pissed off, pissed off
Verse 4: I want to go to school like other children I want to sleep in a house and not outside I want to be with my parents I do not want to be a street child I want to have a very good education I want the government to protect our rights I want I want I want I want
Chorus: The new code of law for our rights, protection and child development (repeat 4 times)
Rap: The new code of law should apply and all adults must be involved What is bif, what's bif (bif = slang meaning problem) What is the pale, what's pale For our rights, we must explain More about being pushed into prostitution More about being pushed to hard labor More about being pushed into begging Ahiiii ok
Rap: Didjak Munya, the NGO War Child More folds, the Future of Children folds
