Episode #112 - Atari 8 bit Music - Classics & Covers The soundchip of the Atari XL/XE computer wasn't necessarily regarded as its major strength. It got four channels, which made Atarians proud. Yet those four channels were of pretty little sound power. But this makes the classic tunes by Rob Hubbard, David Gilmore and others appear even more impressive. It is an amazing range of sound design, that those pioneers reached in the 80s already. But this was not the end of the story of the Atari 8-bit music. During the more recent years a lot of development has been made to reach a sound quality incomparable to what one would expect from the poor old Pokey - both from a composing and technically view: great compositions and covers, 8 channels stereo, filtering and more. Get an insight into the realm of Pokey with this compilation of Classics & Covers.
