Located at 10310 - 102 Ave in Edmonton, Alberta Canada, CHC is a high school for 4th and 5th year students wanting to upgrade and explore post-secondary and career pathways. We provide programming for students to complete or upgrade their high school diploma requirements, but more importantly, that allow any student a 'gap year' to explore and experience opportunities that help to inform their future choices, and help them to build self-awareness, and develop key community, collaboration and leadership skills.
Our experiential, post-secondary, dual credit and industry partnership programs include: Emergency Response Career Pathways: students explore careers in Police, Fire and Paramedic services, focusing on the core values of pride, respect, integrity, determination and excellence. In addition to upwards of 20 high school credits that range from First Aide to Public Speaking, students invest heavily in volunteerism and fundraising; they also participate in and receive a wide range of credentials and special certifications. Anatomy and Physiology: 5 credit course university course that prepares any student intending to pursue a career in health care. Careers in Special Needs: students considering careers in Education, Social Work, Disability Services and professions such as speech pathology, physical therapy, and psychology can begin to build their professional capacity by taking two university courses that introduce the wide range of learning, physical, mental and emotional challenges professionals will encounter while in the above noted careers. Trades Exploration Bootcamp: our partnership with Merit Contractors' Association provides students the opportunity to get some hands-on practice in a construction lab while the program emphasizes safety training and certification, job-ready attitudes and behaviors. The playhouses that the students build are donated to charity.
