Reactive power compensation capacitors of PhaseCap Premium seriesPhaseCap capacitors in cylindrical aluminium casings are designed for power factor correction circuits of low-voltage installations.Inductive loads like electric motors or transformers consume both active and reactive power. At such conditions generators, distributing networks and cables must be unloaded of reactive power flows.Compact polymer metallized MKK capacitors of PhaseCap Premium series have reactive power from 5.0 to 33.0 reactive kilovolt-amperes. They are used for increasing package density and reducing battery costs of capacitors in power factor correction circuits.Main advantages of such capacitors in cylindrical aluminium casings are their improved thermal characteristics and simple assembly procedure. Compact capacitors of PhaseCap series are self-healing capacitors with a film made of a metallized dielectric.A current-conducting metal coating is deposited by metal vapours on one side of the film.Three electrically insulated elements are concentrically wound in a single technological cycle onto the insulated metal tube core. This guarantees exceptional precision of armature roll design.Electric contact with armatures is ensured by metal coating on the roll's end surfaces. Compact armature rolls of capacitors are fit into a cylindrical aluminium casing and are airtight sealed by press-fitting the metal lid.During a long vacuum-drying cycle air and moisture are removed from the active elements. After that capacitors are filled with inert gas and are airtight sealed. The casings are then tested for leakage. Such treatment helps to prevent oxidation of windings and occurrence of local discharges. The procedure ensures exceptional stability of capacitance and a long lifespan of the capacitor up to 115 000 hours. This is especially important when using capacitors in detuned correction circuits.MKK capacitors are furnished with a triple protection system.Firstly this is a dry technology. That means that the capacitor is filled with gas instead of a conventional liquid filling. In this way there is no risk of oil leakage.Secondly this is self-healing.
