Robert Godby, Associate Professor of Economics and Finance at University of Wyoming presented his talk on income inequality in American society at Saturday U in Gilette on March 29, 2014 at the Gillette College Main Building Presentation Hall.

Income inequality in American society, and the choice of appropriate public policies to combat it, have recently taken center stage in public discourse. Rob Godby will discuss the underlying trends regarding income inequality and why it may (or may not) matter with respect to the USA's future economic growth. After describing possible causes of inequality and theirs trends over the past thirty years, Godby addresses the challenges and actions American citizens and policy-makers should consider in attempting to rectify this problem.

Saturday University is a collaborative program connecting popular University of Wyoming professors with Wyoming residents who have a desire to learn. Saturday University is sponsored by the University of Wyoming, Wyoming Humanities Council, University of Wyoming Foundation, and UW Outreach School. The program is sponsored locally by Gillette College.
