I'm already looking forward to Part 2 of this video in a few years time: It's gonna be called SABIAN welcomes Vinnie Colaiuta.
Alex Hicks
2017, still with Paiste.

i have to agree. i h ave played sabian since 1987. but i love paistes as well. zildjians always sound to clangy and gongy to me. i us aax/hhx/ aa/ signatures/hh. .. sabian is to me the beauty of paiste signatures with durability :) ..
b.j. Godfrey
Zildjians sound like trash can lids. Even the a customs and k. Too gongy
+b.j. Godfrey Sabian is just a worse version of Zildjian to me. I think I might switch over to Paiste because they sound different compared to turkish cymbals and Zildjian keeps discontinuing the cymbals I like so screw them!
Have been playing Paiste cymbals for 25 years, and yes they are very consistent. Right now a mix of Signatures, 602, 802, 2002, and Rude. All mix and match well together. Welcome aboard Vinnie....

Wow, seriously people are comparing Mike Johnston to the king, Vinnie? I didnt even know who Mike was until i saw him on the cover of Modern Drummer. Then i youtubed him and he is ok. Sure hes better than most "internet teachers" like Jared Falk and Cobus or whatever, but that's not really saying anything given the aforementioned are a complete joke. Please don't say Mike's name in the presence of Vinnie, the greatest drummer of all time. Mike, the best drum internet marketer of the last few years, nothing more.
Stephen Edmunds
as much as i hate this interview, who the fuck is mike johnston? really? no wait a min BRUNO MARS IS KILLER ON DRUMS. and everyone else. wtf
Rob Taylor
This was a quality move by Vinnie, Zildjian have been nothing but peddlers of overpriced scrap metal since Armand Zildjian's passing. Paiste have really pulled their finger out with the traditional, twenty and 602 series (again) I'm a lifelong Sabian player but i am seriously considering switching to Paiste based on the cymbals I've recently tried. It says a lot about Zildjian's downfall if longtime associates like Vinnie are walking away, it won't be a money situation as Zildjian will more then likely give Vinnie whatever he asks for.
Yeah they keep discontinuing their good cymbals so I guess they want drummers who like those products to play something else.

So drunk
Carlos Estornell-Borrull
Leslie Butts
well....Paiste didnt pull anything....Vinnie did this himself....no BS here......
Stephen Edmunds
so yall didn't pay him to switch? we all know how this game goes now. good for paiste tho. zildjian head for life! (he knows damn well he coulda got anything at zildjian)lol
Ivan Milanov
I think playing drums is all about playing the drums, having fun and for the music, not for what it says on the cymbals nor the drums.. but that's just me ;)
