Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953): Four Pieces from 'Romeo and Juliet' . op. 64 Montagus and Capulets - Dance of Antilles Girls -- Masks -- Death of Juliet
'Romeo and Juliet' was commissioned by the Kirov Ballet in 1935 and immediately claimed a place amongst the world's most popular ballets. The four extracts played here are in arrangements by D. Gruness ('Montagus and Capulets' and 'Dance of Antilles Girls'), Jascha Heifetz ('Masks') and V. Borisovsky ('Death of Juliet'). A full-blooded performance from Yevgeniy Kostrytskyy (violin) and Katya Kulikova (piano) at the 2012 'Indian Summer in Levoca' Festival.
