“In ancient days, men looked at stars and saw their heroes in the constellations. In modern times, we do much the same, but our heroes are epic men of flesh and blood.” -- William Safire

The moon, stars, and the tapestry of the night sky all are responsible for some of humanity’s oldest legends and mysteries. History is filled with stories of daring innovators who had the audacity to dream of one day conquering the sky.

Featuring works by Edvard Grieg, Camille Saint-Saëns, Ken Jennings, and more, Cantus' 2019-2020 touring program, "One Giant Leap," explores and celebrates the allure of upward exploration, the triumph of the human spirit, and striving for excellence through innovation and technology.
