On Mindanao Island, more than 500,000 people were displaced in August 2008 after violent clashes erupted between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the army.
Rural health facilities were overwhelmed. The ICRC renovated some premises, brought in essential medicines and supported staff in their daily activities.
