We had heard rumors that Liberty County CFO Kim McGlothlin made the best pecan pralines in coastal Georgia, so we invited her to our kitchen to taste for ourselves.
1 cup buttermilk 2 cups sugar 3/4 tsp baking soda 1 tbs butter 1tsp vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients except pecans. Stir in a large, pot and then set over the heat on the stove on medium to medium high heat. Continue to stir ingredients until the mixture reaches the boiling point. Then take off the heat and continue to stir the mixture in the "soft ball" stage. Add pecans and continue to stir until the mixture has lost most of its gloss. Then spoon out the mixture in small portions onto wax paper and let cool.
