Dr Tony Klug, Middle East analyst, has written extensively about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict since the early 1970s, when he first proposed a two-state framework as a basis for ending the conflict. His doctoral thesis was on the Israeli occupation of the West Bank between the 1967 and 1973 wars. He is currently a special advisor on the Middle East to the Oxford Research Group and co-chair of the Arab-Jewish Forum. For many years he was a senior official at Amnesty International, where he headed its international development programme. His recent publications include the widely acclaimed pamphlets 'How peace broke out in the Middle East: a short history of the future', and Visions of the Endgame: a strategy to bring the Israeli-Palestinian conflict swiftly to an end.
