Today there are more than 22 million Americans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. These veterans are our parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, friends and coworkers. And we owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude.

Here at EPA, we are especially grateful to the more than 1,500 colleagues whose military service exemplifies selflessness, courage and devotion to our country. As we work to protect the environment and the health of the American people, we draw inspiration from our veterans and all that they have sacrificed to make a difference in the lives of others.

This Veterans Day -- and every day -- please join me in thanking our EPA colleagues who have served in the military, and in paying tribute to all of America's veterans and their families for their incredible service to our country.
