Oregon Coast Community Action is building a new facility that will provide services for children and families in our community, including Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms and a resource room for emergency services.
We invite you to join us in a great big HOORAY! for beginning construction of this great new resource for the South Coast! Pictures of construction can be seen on our website, www.orcca.us .
Under the design and supervision of Scott Edwards Architecture as well as the development expertise of Carroll Community Investments, P&C Construction has been working hard to move dirt, cut trees, and get the site ready to house the future home of Oregon Coast Community Action. Many of the suppliers and subcontractors are local, adding jobs and funds to the local economy.
Expected to open in Fall 2012, the new building will house 7 Head Start classrooms, parent education rooms, teacher workspace, commercial kitchen, client resource and intake rooms for the Essential Services department, and space for Head Start and ORCCA support services. The site on Thomas Street offers opportunities for green space, natural landscaping, and the design makes the most of environmentally friendly features in keeping with the beautiful forested site.
This facility would not be possible without the funders who provided the approximately $8 million needed for this project. The funds used for this building were given for the specific purpose of building a new facility to house Head Start and Emergency Services, and could not be used for regular ORCCA programming.
Funders for the Child and Family Resource Center include:
• Ford Family Foundation • The Kresge Foundation • Meyer Memorial Trust • The Collins Foundation • Ann & Bill Swindells Charitable Trust • New Markets Tax Credits through Wells Fargo, Community Funding Group, and Enterprise Cascadia with support from Carroll Community Investments • USDA B&I Guaranteed Loan through Enterprise Cascadia
Thanks to these organizations, children and families on the South Coast will have opportunities to thrive now, and in the future.
As one of our partners, we hope you join us in reflecting on the difference that this building will make in the lives of children and families, now and in years to come. By working together, we can make a difference in our community. Thank you!
