http://mko.rs/60018QTSx Take a trip with Halle Berry as she goes to Nicaragua on behalf of Watch Hunger Stop and Michael Kors. There she joined the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), to visit schools and meet children who have been helped by the brand’s philanthropic efforts.
In the remote city of Jinotega in Nicaragua, much of the population makes a living by picking and growing coffee beans. However, in recent years, a disease called coffee rust has destroyed many of the area’s coffee plantations, putting countless families in economic distress.
Thanks to Watch Hunger Stop and WFP, the city’s children receive one free meal per day when they attend school. The food, which is provided by WFP and Watch Hunger Stop, is prepared in the villagers’ homes and is served by local mothers. Halle Berry was able to observe just how much joy one meal per day has brought to the children of Jinotega. “If everybody just did their small little part, we could probably end this [hunger] epidemic. If I can help inspire other people to do their little part, then that’s actually a big thing,” she says.
