菊水鉾の鉾建て

According to Chinese legend, in the Chou Dynasty, a mysterious child named “Kikujido” (Chrysanthemum boy in Japanese), who lived deep in the mountains by himself, gained eternal youth by drinking the dew from chrysanthemum flowers. Therefore, this float has a life-size doll, symbolizing “Kikujido”, and a symbolic chrysanthemum flower on top. This represents the wish for eternal youth and longevity for everyone.
