This is an unboxing and review of the brand new Apple iPhone 5

Made entirely of glass and aluminum, the new Apple iPhone 5 released on September 21, 2012 is the slimmest and lightest iPhone yet. In fact, it is the thinnest smart phone on the market measuring at only 7.6mm thick. It weighs 112 grams, 1/5 the weight of the iPhone 4S. Featured here is the white model and the black, not featured is encased in a slate colored aluminum, giving it a new, dark aesthetic. The new iPhone 5 display measures at 4 inches, a .5 inch increase from the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.

The new retina display is 326 ppi and has 44% more color saturation than the iPhone 4S bringing it up to full SRGB Color Specification; the most accurate display in the industry. . The longer screen allows for more viewing in any app and adds a 5th row of apps on the homescreens. The new display also features integrtaed touch, making it 30% thinner than the predecessors allowing for a sharper image and less glare.

Also new to the Apple iPhone 5 is the 8 megapixel camera with a f.24 aperture. The camera itself is 25% smaller than the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S and features a sapphire crystal lens cover that allows for clear photos and a protected sensor. There is a dynamic low light mode, precision lens alignment, and spatial noise reduction, meaning your photos come out more colorful, more clear, and more what you had in your mind's eye. Video performance is enhanced as well with the new camera. The main camera shoots at 1080p HD (same as what we used to make this review video!) and the front camera shoots at 720p.

The most exciting feature of the new camera of course is the Panorama feature. You can now capture a photo that spans the length of any landscape. Everyone can fit in the family photo now with the new Panorama!

FaceTime has made a new stride as well. No longer do you have to connect to Wi-Fi to video chat, you can do it through you cellular data network, which means you get FaceTime all the time!

There have been improvements to the wireless functions including the addition of 4G LTE which brings the iPhone up to speed (literally) with its other smart phone competitors. There is now an A6 Dual Core processing chip inside the phone allowing for twice as fast processing power. Launching apps, saving images, loading music, it all just got a lot faster.

Not only does this phone operate at lightning speed, but it now charges through the Lightning Connector. No longer do iPhones use the 30 pin charger introduced in 2003, now there is an all digital, 8 signal design, adapative interface with improved durability. Best of all, it is reversible! Adapters will be available for any of the older connectors you may have already. A whole new slew of accessories will be introduced alongside the release of the iPhone 5 as well to accommodate the new charging port.

There are also new headphones in the package: the EarPods. They are more ergonomic, designed to fit the every man ear better and deliver a better quality sound. They're comfortable, they stay in, and they sound pretty good. Definitely an improvement.

Last but not least is the release of iOS 6 with the Apple iPhone 5. All older devides are entitled to a free software update and it involves a bunch of really cool advancements. The Map app, SIRI, Safari, Mail, Passbook, AirPrint, AirPlay, and more have all undergone vast reconsideration and the changes are very, very cool. Especially the map app which now has a new feature called Fly Over, allowing you to get a good look at a national monument you may never get to see with your own two eyes.
