Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy is one of the 8 model works of the Revolutionary Peking Opera, popular during the Chinese Cultural Revolution 1966-76. This film version was released in 1970. It is based on an actual event that took place in 1946 during the Chinese Civil War. A young communist reconnaissance team soldier, Yang Zirong, disguised himself as a bandit to infiltrate a local gang, eventually helping the main revolutionary force to destroy the band.
