A film of London.

London From The Air was shot entirely with a GoPro Hero 3 Black and a DJI Phantom 2. Scenes include Spitalfields, Shoreditch, Greenwich, the Millennium Bridge, OXO Tower, and St Paul's Cathedral among others.

I wasn't fully aware of CAA regulations at the time of this flight (what hobbyist is!?) but common sense applied. Safety was maintained at all times. There were no people around during take off or landing, line of sight was maintained and all flights were conducted very early in the morning to avoid potential congestion.

I was aware of the CAA's congested area rule. However, it turns out the CAA's definition of 'congested' differs from the Oxford English dictionary's definition. Only after filming, editing and publishing this video did I learn about the CAA's regulations in full, including their definitions. Though it seems as though I have definitely (however innocently and unintentionally) broken their rules.

Since this film, I have been in contact with the CAA to explain my mistake and the lack of knowledge I had of the regulations during the making of. Their position seems to be that I should have been aware but they acknowledge my forthrightness in coming forward and admitting fault. We'll see what happens next.

I certainly won't be making a film like this again.
