Illumaroo is a 'public service project' devised by Australian nocturnal photo-artist Peter Solness. The intention of creating Illumaroo is to photographically map the quirky pattern of kangaroo movement in the Australian bush late at night. The hope is that such imagery may serve as a community road safety facility, by helping often bamboozled and fearful 4 wheel drivers, (especially those with black Lexus's who come from affluent urban neighbourhoods) to anticipate the enigmatic behaviour of bush Kangaroos at night and therefore to avoid serious roadside collisions which are common on Australian roads at night. Many thanks to Murray van der Veer for camera, René Volgelzang for Car headlights and the rest of the Discovery Photographer team for their input and support.
