During ABC's "This Week" program on Sunday, host, Jake Tapper, asked former White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, about the President's failure to fulfill a pledge he had made to cut the federal deficit in half by the end of his first term. Tapper noted that although the White House and the President have offered up an explanation as to why Mr. Obama had made the aforementioned pledge and why he was unable to fulfill his promise - namely, because he didn't know how bad the economy was, in 2009, when he made the pledge - in truth, Obama made the same pledge as recently as February of 2011. Nevertheless, the President, in an interview last week, offered up the same bogus excuse, and phony talking point, despite the fact that, as recently as February of 2011, he still insisted, and pledged, that he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term.
