I do not own this material. This LP is long out of print and will never be repressed. This is for educational purposes only.
The record that started it all, and in my opinion helped re-birth a whole new generation of KISS fans. This LP came at a time when KISS had taken off their make-up and were part of the 80's / early 90's Hair Metal Ballad scene. This release spoke volumes to bands and fan's that had not forgotten how the original KISS line-up inspired them. Early original KISS inspired a whole generation of musicians to go out and start there own band, and do things their way. To my knowledge KISS never was contacted for the rights to release this LP. If so, it was after the fact. On the back of the LP it clearly states "Please Gene, Don't sue us."
Hard to Believe: A Kiss Covers Compilation is a Kiss tribute album with all of the tracks performed by (at the time) underground, independent, punk bands of the late 1980s. The two bands featured on this album that would continue on to greater success are Nirvana and Melvins, though Doug Martsch of Treepeople would go on to found Built To Spill. This is one of two Nirvana recordings with Jason Everman on guitar.
